Quietness: ★★★★★
My family stayed at St Ermin’s hotel on two separate vacations and we absolutely enjoyed the experience.
Quietness: Unlike many London hotels situated on bustling streets, St. Ermin’s enjoys a relatively quiet setting, despite being just a short walk from Westminster Abbey and other major tourist attractions. The hotel sits on Caxton Street and Broadway—both small, one-way roads with limited traffic. During both of my stays, I found the atmosphere quiet, even when my room was directly above Caxton Street.
History: due to its proximity to the Houses of Parliament, St. Ermin’s hotel became the headquarters of the Special Operations Executive (SOE) during WWII, and an office for MI6. On the ground floor, you will find their proud display of original SOE field equipment.

Rooms: The suite we booked for our family vacation was among the most spacious we’ve experienced in London. It included a separate living room with a formal dining table and a full sofa set, where they set up an additional bed for us. The three of us could comfortably sit together on the sofa, enjoying proper face-to-face conversations—a rare luxury in London hotels.

The main lobby features a grand staircase and chandeliers. Climbing the stairs to the second floor leads you to their tea lounge where they serve amazing afternoon tea with beautiful china sets. A pleasant surprise we found was a functional typewriter in the lobby—not just for display. We couldn’t resist tapping out lines of “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy,” exchanging grins at our inside family joke.

In summary, St Ermin’s hotel is a tranquil oasis close to all the major tourist attractions where you can find large suites for a wonderful family vacation.
