Quiet and Luxurious

The Prince Gallery Tokyo Kioicho is one of my favorite hotels in Tokyo. Located in the Kioicho district, known for lush greenery and a rich history, the hotel occupies the top floors (30th-36th) of the Kioi Tower with the sweeping 360 view of the Tokyo city.

Rooms: Upon entering the guest room, we were immediately impressed by the large bay window, complete with a long seat wide enough for two people to recline on comfortably. The shower room was enclosed with a tub and a stool. We wondered for a moment about the privacy of the shower glass until we discovered the glass became opaque instantly by pressing a button. Everything opened and closed seamlessly, from the bathroom door to the curtains and drawers, reflecting the Japanese attention to detail. The view from the quest room was breathtaking. On our first night, I left the curtains open so I could watch the city gradually awaken, until the sunrise painted it in soft shades of pink.

Quietness: Most of the hotels I’ve stayed at in Tokyo are free from street noise, thanks to the Japanese lifestyle and a subway system that carries most of the city’s commuters. Even so, this hotel’s soundproofing was remarkable. The guest room door closed slowly and silently, and once it shut, we couldn’t hear a thing from outside, a sharp contrast to the American hotels where often we hear people slamming the door and talking in the hallway. 

Dining: As Marriott Elite members, we enjoyed complimentary breakfast during our stay. Along with an excellent buffet, the restaurant also offers an à la carte menu featuring classic Western favorites such as French toast and eggs Benedict. What sets their à la carte options apart is the quality—the kind of beautifully prepared dishes that look just as good in photos as they taste in person.

Pro Tips: There is a lovely café called La Précieuse on the 4th floor of the Kioi Tower where you can enjoy coffee, cakes, afternoon tea and lunch sandwiches. Another hidden gem is the Hie Shrine, just a ten-minute walk away from the hotel. Situated on a small hill, this Shinto shrine worships Oyamakui no Kami as well as Inari Ōkami which is marked by the bright red torii gates.

Verdict: The Prince Gallery Tokyo Kioicho offers modern comfort, sweeping views of the city and quiet stays in the historical Kioicho district—truly a luxurious oasis in Tokyo.
